Promoting contraception on the 26th of September!

Every year on the 26th of September World Contraception day is celebrated to promote safe sex among individuals. Diverse promotions are held each year in various parts across the globe, just with a simple vision of dealing with unwanted pregnancy.

Predominantly, the overall move started back in 2007. It was WCD's mission to improve awareness of contraception among healthy individuals and subsequently enable young people to safe sex procedures. This, in turn, will largely emphasize on their sexual and reproductive health.

How is the current phase of safe sex?

Current scenarios are even tougher. With a large variant of contraceptive methods already clinging in the environment, its only through awareness that the process can be adapted. Currently, there are a number of birth control options available. Consequently, choosing the most suitable ones can be tedious for many teens.

Henceforth, this day several campaigns are launched to support and answer worldwide doubts. One such priority is given to sexually transmitted diseases. The spread of STD or STIs isn't relevant to any region. They can be aggravated across all platforms.

The Questions being discussed.

The other query being raised is the safety of the contraceptive methods. Nevertheless, a number of times these medications have severe side effects that account for a long-term effect. Social media and infographics are largely covering these topics on a wider scale. Henceforth, the day marks a large collaboration of young adults engaging themselves in solving doubts related to contraception.

Contraception in India

Statistics point out that a large portion of the Indian population has had unsafe sex at some point in their life. This accounts to one of the major cause of deaths due to unwanted and unsafe abortion.

Current research provides insights to reduce maternal mortality by almost three times by maintaining healthy timing and spacing of births. Furthermore, this can be achieved through the access to proper and effective birth control and contraception.

Ordinarily, birth control term has been used in a broad sense for unwanted pregnancies. As such, contraception further refers to the methods and devices that have been used for birth control processes. World contraception day promotes these processes and further reduces the risk of getting any sexually transmitted diseases.
